“PEER PRESSURE”
I believe that this message will be of good value to students as they re-enter the portals of their various schools.
• What is Peer Pressure?
Peer pressure is when you are influenced by other people (your peers) to act in a certain way.
What types of things we teen/young adults are pressured to do? Steal, Have sex, Lie, Curse,Fight, Smoke etc.
What to do when faced with Peer Pressure?
1) Pray – Mat 26:41 (NIV) “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
2) Use the Word of God – Matthew 4:4 – Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ It is important to study and know the Word of God in order to use it when faced with peer pressure. Psalm 119:11 – “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
3) Resist – James 4:7 – Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
4) Think- Think of the consequences of your action. How will your action affect you? Proverbs 3:7- Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
5) Walk Away– Psalm 34:14 – Depart from evil and do good…
Remember, pleasing God is always greater than pleasing people!
