“And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.” – 1 Samuel 16:11
The son whom nobody thought anything of, became everything they would ever want to be. The seemingly least among them, God wanted to use! David’s father didn’t even consider him to be a worthy candidate for Samuel to anoint as King and his brothers didn’t even check for him, but what was counted out, God counted in! Samuel had to go through all the other son’s just to get to David. God will do whatever it takes to reach you. Samuel felt that Jesse was missing someone. Someone whom he had never met, already had an imprint on his life to the point he noticed they were missing. Your life is making an impact on people you have yet to meet. The one that was missing, became the mantled and mandated one. So don’t feel like your missing out on anything…you’re missing for a purpose.
In all of this, I wondered what if David drifted off someplace else because he may not have felt like watching those sheep anymore? What if he had walked away for something right when he was about to be called? He would not have been in position to receive what God had instore for him. So even though you may not like where you are now or what you have to do and even become weary every now and again, continue to be faithful to what God has called you to. It may not seem like much now, but it won’t be long before God lifts you up. People may not count you worthy to be anointed as King or even count your dedication, but they cannot stop or block the plans of God for your life and God will reward your labor in due time. God sees and He knows. Embrace where you are now because it is only a stepping stone to the place God has destined for you. Because people counted you out, God chose to count you in!
