Just Go!

“The LORD had said to Abram, ‘Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.'” – Genesis 12:1 (NLT)

How many of us can honestly say that if God told us to move to a different island or country, we would? Truthfully, many of us would question that voice in our Spirit, whether it be of God because we just know he would never tell us to do that. He would not tell us to move from a comfortable place, right? Not true. God is concerned about our obedience to Him, rather than our comforts and preferences. This can be a hard pill to swallow.

Honestly, sometimes when God tells us to do something, it feels like He comes at the wrongest time. The time when we are at our best, doing great and have a lot going on for ourselves. Like God, really? You want me to leave everything that I worked for, to move to a whole new country? Why now? I am at the peak of my Ministry! I am about to be promoted at my job! There are many people who God instructed to leave their place of familiarity to go to a strange land. There are many people that God instructed to leave their jobs and return back to college. There are many people that God instructed to leave their mega ministries and become a missionary in some far country. And if we were to hear their testimony on how God moved in their lives through one act of obedience, we would be amazed.

Sometimes we miss out what God is trying to do in our lives because of our excuses. We tend to find every reason as to why we cannot do it. Moses for example, in Exodus 4:10-12, shows that we are not the only ones who try to make excuses.

10But Moses pleaded with the LORD, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” 11Then the LORD asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the LORD? 12Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”

God was sending Moses up against Pharoah with specific instructions, but Moses was like, God, I do not think I can do that. There is a slight problem, I cannot speak very well. However, God was not taking his excuses. He set Moses straight in verses 11 through 12. God was not looking for Moses’ excuses, He was looking for his obedience. When God gives us instructions to “go” someplace or at something, it is not our job to figure out the details. It is not our job to figure out “why?” because God is not looking for our “why”, He is looking for our “YES!” Our obedience to the instructions, makes the difference and determines our outcome.

When the Lord spoke to me concerning coming to Valor Christian College, I had to move with many questions on how it would happen, but the key is, I moved. I decided to step out in faith and obedience to God’s instructions and I began seeing amazing things unfold right before me. It definitely was not easy to just pick up and leave, but I knew where God was taking me, was for a greater purpose.

Whatever instruction God is speaking to you about or has been speaking to you about for quite some time, don’t worry about the details or try to make excuses any longer, JUST GO! God has something great for you on the other side of your obedience! No more delay! It is time to take that leap of faith and JUST GO!
