Happy New Year to all my readers, God’s been so faithful this past year and I am excited for all that is going to happen through and to us as we go higher in 2019!
It’s my second semester at Valor Christian College, and can I tell you what an amazing journey it has been thus far. I am learning so much and connecting with so many people. I started out my journey here as a communications and media major, and I enjoyed it, but I did not feel like I was in the area God wanted me. Coming here, I felt a tug to change my major, but I ignored it and continued pursuing it.
Fortunately, I was able to be a part of a work-study, where students work on campus, and I was placed with the recruitment team over international students (I really am so grateful to be a part of this). In a conversation with a fellow sister, out of nowhere, she asks if God told me to be in communications and media. My heart sank as I could not provide an answer. She then told me to seek the Lord about what He wanted me to do here. She came for my life, lol. But if I did not want to listen to God’s voice, He’d use someone to get me back on track.
So, after repenting before God for my disobedience, I knew which major I was supposed to be in, Pastoral Leadership. I told my mom and mentor about my decision to switch, and they were unsurprised. When I told my sister of how I changed my major and to what it was going to be the following semester, she said, “I’m not no prophetess or anything, but…” Ha ha, she did not even tell me what I was supposed to be in, but placed the responsibility in my hands to seek God, which I truly appreciated. Sometimes we have to do the work, it’s called growing.
I am so excited about this semester and this new change, which is so good for me because I feel peace and joy about it. I am embracing this new season, and all that God will do in and through me through this major. Like any other major, it will have its challenges, but I am in the right place, and with God, I will finish what I started.
Don’t be afraid to take a different route; don’t be afraid to change locations. Change is good and often needed for our further development and progress. Seek God for the change and embrace it when it’s time!
