You know, the scripture came to me a few days ago,
“We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.”
John 9:4 (NLT)
This truly hits home today after hearing of the passing of a young girl who recently graduated High School. One of the top students who excelled in academics and had a very bright future. This young lady was just beginning her time at The University of The Bahamas when she suddenly fell ill. After having some check-ups, she was diagnosed with Leukemia, a cancer of the blood or bone marrow. Could you imagine how she felt? Just beginning a new chapter in her life, only to be faced with this major obstacle. The sad thing is, in a matter of months she fell to her demise.
We never know when our time will come, when we will be face to face with death. Even as young people, we believe or feel that we have the most time in the world before we decide to turn our lives around. That is the farthest thing from the truth. The truth is, death can snatch us away at any moment and Christ can come at any moment. This world is temporary and we are only passing through. Why should we become so caught up in temporal things and neglect the work of Christ?
“And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.”
I John 2:17 (NLT)
“..For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
II Corinthians 4:18 (NLT)
Only what we do for CHRIST will ever last. As believers, there is so much more we can do for the Kingdom. Lost souls are depending on us! We can not afford to become lazy in this hour. Night is coming and before we know it, we are faced with our eternal destiny (Heaven or Hell).
