New Year, New Goals!

Before you enter the new year and start creating new goals for yourself, you need to evaluate this year. What worked, what did not worked. What you were able to accomplish, what you were not able to accomplish. Write everything down and spend time reviewing and really dissecting each thing on the paper. This is important as you enter the new year to prevent yourself from repeating old cycles and doing things that did not add or helped you throughout the year. After you would have completed this task, crossing out the negatives (things that did not work or helped you), provide solutions to help better yourself on how you can overcome these things in the coming year. You did not make your desired grade point average this semester? Well what can you improve on to help you reach it? You were not able to get a job this year? How can you turn from searching for a job to creating jobs? I think you get my point. Solutions to the problems you faced is a major step in becoming successful.

Now that you have reviewed the year, it is time to SET NEW GOALS for yourself! It is important to know the direction you are heading in the upcoming year. Once you have your focus points, it helps you to remain focused! Now sometimes the path you plan for yourself takes different routes, but you must always remember where the prize lies. There will be bumps and hurdles but do not look back! Pick up yourself, dust off and keep running!

Write your new goals down and how you would accomplish them and the time frame in which you expect these things to be accomplished. I must add this here…Please do not become discouraged when you do not meet your desired timeline. Once you are alive, you  still have an opportunity to go after and achieve those goals! Make the goals you have written for yourself plain as Habakkuk 2:2 says. Have your goals on a nice board with pictures around them depicting those things you wish to accomplish. Make sure this board is in a place where you can see it everyday! Do not forget to add inspirational quotes and/or scriptures to help keep you encouraged and motivated even when you feel like giving up.

I am so excited for you and everything that you have set out for yourself. I know that you can achieve them all! I cannot wait to hear of the many successes you will have in the new year.

As you go into the new year and set new goals for yourself, I want to help empower you more as you journey to lifelong success:

You cannot enter the new year still comparing yourself to other people. FOCUS ON YOU! Embrace your individual journey!

Do not become frustrated because of how long “it” takes. Nothing happens overnight, everything takes time! Be patient and continue working!

YOUR goals and visions are YOUR goals and visions. Do not expect everyone to understand them.

Some people will keep saying, “you can’t do that” or “it’ll never work” because they are afraid of how far you will go. God wants to take you HIGHER in the new year! Don’t listen to the naysayers! SOAR!

Be careful who you attach yourself to. Everything will be good till you make strides to the top.

Always be open to new skills, information or anything that will add value to you. Don’t miss any opportunity to INVEST IN YOU!

It’s time for less talking and more WORKING!
