CHRIST’S POWER IN YOUR STRUGGLE: WINNING THE FIGHT OF FAITH

In this post, we’re taking a closer look at the struggle between faith and the devil’s temptations—and how we can rely on God’s strength when we’re feeling weak. We’ll talk about why obedience to Christ matters, the impact of sin, and the importance of repentance. Most of all, it’s a call to keep fighting for your faith, surrender to God’s will, and discover the victory that’s already ours in Christ.

The Enemy’s Plans and God’s Strength

The devil’s only objective is to ensure we never make it to a place (heaven) that he was kicked out of.

He will do anything to smear the image of Christ in our lives.

The Apostle Paul had his own struggles with the proverbial “thorn in my flesh.” Three times, he asked Jesus to take it away.

We cannot allow our struggles to push us away from Jesus.

Instead, our struggles indicate our need for Jesus’ strength. We must run to Him!

Jesus told Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV), “…My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

This passage means that when we are weak and unable to rely on our strength, Christ’s power is most evident in our lives.

Jesus can demonstrate His power, strength, and grace through our weaknesses.

He does not want to see us fail.

Fighting the Good Fight of Faith

1 Timothy 6:12 tells us to “Fight the good fight of faith.”

This verse encourages us to persevere in our faith, to remain steadfast in following Christ, and to stand firm against challenges, temptation, and opposition.

The “good fight” represents the struggle to live a godly life and to hold onto the truth of the gospel, with the promise of eternal life awaiting those who remain faithful.

God’s Love and Obedience

Jesus Christ loves us.

That is an undeniable truth seen in John 3:16.

However, He did not love us simply to die on the cross; He loves us to see us in Heaven with Him one day.

We cannot get to Heaven on our own terms.

Just as when we go to certain places, there are requirements before entry, Christ loves us enough to give us an open-book test.

All of the instructions and how-tos are available to us through His Word. This is why throughout Scripture, Jesus admonishes us repeatedly to “obey My words.”

His love for us does not exempt us from being obedient.

Consequences of Disobedience

For example, a parent can tell their child stealing is wrong, yet the child can find himself in trouble with the law for stealing.

He made a choice to steal and disobey his father’s instructions.

Now, he has to face the consequences of his actions. Sure, the father still loves his child, but the child made a choice that has repercussions.

That is why the Bible tells us in Romans 6:23 (KJV), “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

A lifestyle of disobedience to Christ’s teachings pays after a while, and it is costly in the end.

We do not have to choose eternal death, though.

Repentance and Transformation

Jesus says He does not wish that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

What is repentance?

It is not simply saying, “I am sorry,” but turning away from sinfulness and choosing to live in obedience to Christ’s will for us.

The danger for us all is thinking Christ’s love equals acceptance of anything and everything.

We do not get to present ourselves before God and make Him accept us for “who we are.”

He told us in Scripture how we should come before Him.

Living as Living Sacrifices

Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) says, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

In response to God’s mercy, we are called to offer our whole lives to Him as a living sacrifice, living in a way that pleases Him.

This involves rejecting the world’s values and being continually transformed by God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, so that we can understand and fulfill God’s will in our lives.

Here’s How You Can Win the Fight of Faith

Guard Your Mind and Heart Daily.

  • Fill your mind with God’s Word to combat the lies of the enemy.
  • Memorize verses like Ephesians 6:11, Romans 12:1-2, Galatians 5:1.

Fast, Pray, and Seek God’s Power.

  • Dedicate time to fasting (denying your flesh) and prayer to draw closer to God.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal hidden sins and weaknesses and to empower you to overcome them.

Walk in Obedience and Accountability.

  • Make intentional choices to live a holy life.
  • Do not put yourself in compromising positions. Learn to say “NO,” turn off the phone, and be productive with your time (read, walk, exercise, etc.).
  • Partner with godly mentors or accountability partners to help you stay on track.

God’s Expectations

Our God is just.

What He says to one, He says to all.

What He expects from one, He expects from all.

It would not be fair for God to judge Sodom and Gomorrah for their plenteous evils but accept ours.

It would not be fair for God to judge Saul but accept our pride and disobedience.

God expects us all to live the life He created for us, His way.

He will not force us to do anything, but we choose daily, by our lifestyle, where we are headed in the end.

It Is Time to Choose Victory in Christ

The enemy is working overtime to destroy lives, but God’s strength is greater.

Do not wait another day.

  • Run to Jesus—let His grace cover your weaknesses.
  • Fight the good fight of faith—do not give up when struggles arise.
  • Obey God’s Word—let it transform your heart and renew your mind.

God’s power is waiting for you to tap into it.

Surrender your life, your struggles, and your future into His hands!
